JACQUES BADENHORST
2022 SA LONG DISTANCE DUATHLON CHAMPION

Jacques has ambitions of turning pro in the next few years.  In the meanwhile, he’s racking up some pretty impressive results  and traveling the world through sport. In doing this, he aims to inspire athletes to work hard and believe in their goals.   Jacques, himself, has been inspired by Richard Murray who has done just that.  “His hard work and determination to finish strong is admirable.”

Cycling from the age of 13 and running for the High School team…and soon started looking for ways to combine the two sports. At age 16, with a bit of convincing, Jacque completed his first triathlon - finishing 5th in his age group at a local race, Despite the blisters - he was hooked. “Training is different every day”, says Jacques.

In the spirit of keeping things different - Jacque enjoys both a solid run session on the track, or a long ride on trails in Jonkershoek - or a road loop around Franschhoek.  “For track sessions I use Cadence gels. I take one when warming up and one halfway. I feel the caffeine really helps keep me sharp and gives me that extra kick. For long rides I incorporate a bit of everything - a few bottles of Carbofuel, I like doing a bottle or two of each flavor to mix things up. salted caramel bars are my favorite riding snack! I will add some gels if I have any tough efforts and need some extra power.” he comments on fuelling for this training.

Jacques considers representing Cadence Nutrition as an honor - where he is both enabled and committed to continuing giving his best in training and racing.
