Bruce Campbell
Meet Bruce Campbell: Athlete, Coach and Rare Disease Advocate
Bruce Campbell is an athlete, coach, and advocate for people with rare diseases. He is the owner of Aspire LiveFit Coaching Academy, where he helps people achieve their athletic goals.
Campbell's journey as an athlete began at a young age when he was diagnosed with a rare virus that left him completely paralysed. Campbell had to learn to crawl, walk, swim, and run all over again. This experience gave him a deep appreciation for the human body and the importance of movement and has led me to follow his passions in many different sports such as swimming, surfing, triathlon and even a bit of Xterra racing.
Campbell's athletic career took another turn when he was diagnosed with Pompe disease, a genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle and skeletal weakness. The disease made it impossible for him to run, but Campbell refused to give up on his active lifestyle. He found ways to continue to train and compete, and he even became a world champion at the AG Aquabike World Champs in Abu Dhabi (2022).
Campbell's experiences have inspired him to help others achieve their athletic goals and he uses his coaching business (Aspire LiveFit) to help people of all ages and abilities reach their fitness/ athletic goals.
Campbell's favourite Cadence Product:
Campbell's favourite Cadence product is the Salted Caramel Carbofuel Bar.
“[It] is by far the biggest game changer in packing so many good carbohydrates into one tiny, yet so tasty bar!”
Campbell's goals for the upcoming year are to support his athletes at various events and to raise awareness about Pompe disease and other rare diseases. He plans to do this by participating in a number of 3-4 day mountain bike stage races, the Aquabike African Champs once again as well as on a 700km ride across the whole of Lesotho, a ride that entails 18 000m of elevation.
Bruce Campbell is an inspiration to us all, serving as a reminder that it is never too late to achieve our dreams, and that we can overcome any obstacle if we have the courage to never give up. Cadence Nutrition is proud to partner with him and to be a part of his goals set up for the upcoming year.
